A Gift for Special Children was started in 1991 by Jackie-Vaughn Codiga. Jackie
and other volunteers saw a need in the Mason County community to support
families with special needs children and disease when other agencies (such as
Social Security, Department of Social and Health Services, Division of
Developmental Disabilities) could not help.

Over the years A Gift for Special Children has helped a number of Mason County
families with their basic needs. From 2004-2007 alone we have helped 71 families
with over 289 referrals. We have also added a lot of extra services to help
families and our community to be healthy.

|
|
Who are we? A Gift for Special Children is a group of six community members, a
couple of nurses, a stay home mom, a transportation coordinator, an
advocacy-awareness consultant, and a teacher!
